Day 1: The Rickshaw Run finally got under way at midday today as our intrepid rickshaw pilots set off from Goa into the heartland of India. Well ok, they managed to cover 100km's at least! It didn't all quite go according to plan though. Swine flu in Pune and riots in Kolhapur have forced the team to take a detour around the troubled areas. The team headed East out of Goa to the small town of Belgaum. They'll stpop here the night before setting off early tomorrow morning. From here its expected the team will travel further East to Bijapur before heading North towards Aurangabad. Still waiting for the blogs to come through from the team - the internet usb mobile connection proving to be somewhat temperamental!
One cheerful piece of news however - it seems the team have finally come up with a name for themselves - The Shaw Must Go On! Apparently inspiration came around 12.30am last night thanks to our good friend Mr. Kingfisher!
